Welcome to Thai Sabai authentic traditional Thai Massage in Bristol.

If you are not familiar with Thai Massage then allow us to tell you something of its history and the reason for its enduring appeal....

Thai Massage in its present form dates back more than three hundred years and has its origins going back more than 2,500 years to ancient India and China. Combining elements of Ayurvedic medicine, Hatha yoga and Chinese acupressure, Thai Massage has evolved as a unique healing art and is widely regarded as one of the best systems of therapeutic massage.

Technique

Thai Massage is done fully clothed on a mat, which allows the practitioner the necessary  level of body leverage required to enact the characteristic stretches and postures.

The Thai Massage practitioner uses their hands, elbows, knees and feet to systematically stretch the limbs, massage the muscles and apply pressure at points along the ten main energy lines or meridians(Sip Sen in Thai).

The intensity or strength of the massage can be varied according to individual preference. The practitioner will ask about your general health condition, and whether there are specific problems with your body or painful areas that need attention.

Traditionally oil is not used in Thai Massage though a soothing ointment is commonly applied to the neck, shoulders and back to help relieve tension.

Thai Massage is an integrated, sequenced procedure and in Thailand a massage commonly lasts two-hours.

Although this may seem a long time, the full benefits of Thai Massage stem from a combination of the physical treatment and a prolonged period of tranquillity.

An initial treatment of 1 hour provides a good introduction to Thai massage. Appointments may be booked for periods of 1/2 hour, 1 hour, 1 1/2 hours, or 2 hours.

After Your Massage

After Thai Massage  you will most likely feel refreshed and invigorated yet serene.  Some people may feel some slight soreness or discomfort, especially in areas where they have had problems.  This is all part of the natural process and will subside with time leaving you with an overall sense of wellbeing.  It is recommended that you drink plenty of water after your treatment to aid with detoxification.
